Kurofade started with a simple problem: the masks we wanted didn’t exist. We wanted something with the presence of a collectible object—not something that felt temporary the moment you took it off.
Most masks felt like an afterthought—thin materials, generic shapes, or pieces made for one night. We wanted something different: strong silhouettes, considered finishes, and designs that could hold their own whether worn, photographed, or displayed.
So we built Kurofade as a focused mask brand—each release treated like an artifact, not just another product SKU.
Every mask starts with the face.
Shape first. Detail second. Everything else comes after. The goal is simple: make a mask you remember after you’ve seen it.
The silhouette has to work first.
Before color or finish, we look at the expression, profile, eyes, horns, proportions, and overall form. The shape has to carry the identity of the mask before the smaller details are added.
It should feel recognizable from across the room and rewarding up close.
Details give the piece its character.
Color, texture, contrast, and finishing change the entire personality of a mask. We use those details to build depth and presence—not just to make a piece louder.

Before an order leaves us, the mask is checked, packed to protect its shape and finish, and shipped with tracking so you can follow it until it reaches your hands.

Each piece begins with a face: the expression, silhouette, mood, and presence we want it to carry. From there, we build the color, finish, texture, and smaller details around that identity.
Our visual world draws from Japanese masks, folklore, theatre, and art—but the goal isn’t to make replicas. It’s to take that sense of presence and reinterpret it through pieces made for today’s collectors, creators, and spaces.
Hannya is one of the first faces in that world. It won’t be the last.
